Media Literacy in the Age of Fake News
As part of my graduate studies, I created a media literacy project to aid Oklahoma media teachers in educating their students about fake news. It includes a history of unreliable news, strategies for evaluating and critiquing news sources, and topics of conversations to help students understand why fake news is created, why people believe fake news, and how their own biases shape how they interact with news media. This curriculum was published on the website for Oklahoma Scholastic Media, an organization housed at Gaylord College at OU to serve media teachers and students across the state.
